CATEGORY 28 - OPEN REPORTOIRE  R200,00 Off Sale
In keeping with the spirit of celebrating various voices, the 10th World Choir Games - Tshwane 2018, has created a special category, Category 28 - Open Repertoire for Mixed Choirs, to afford choirs the opportunity to participate in the World Choir Games in an open competition without the limitation of repertoire.

Category 28 is open to choirs to make their own repertoire choices.
Of the choirs that have registered, choices range from African Choral Compositions, Opera chorus excerpts and excepts from Oratorio, and a combination of these works.

Category 28 is scheduled for Monday, July 9th 2018, Opera Stage - South African State Theatre.
There will be two blocks of performances.
Block one starts at 10h30, block two starts at 15h00

Details

The 10th World Choir Games are coming to Africa. More than 300 choirs and 16 000 participants from over 60 countries will be Tshwane will be the first host of Olympic Games of Choral music in the global south. 147 of these choirs are from South Africa.

This celebration will take place over two competition phases with competition performances, celebration concerts and legacy concerts at several venues across Tshwane. For more information visit www.tshwane2018.org.

Event passes give audiences access to all competition performances across the different venues and can be purchased for the day, the week or both weeks. Opening and Closing ceremonies will be broadcast live on kykNet Nou, DSTV, Channel 146 on 4 and 14 July respectively.

Competitions at the World Choir Games

World Choir Games - The Champions Competition

This competition is designed for experienced choirs that have already proven their level of proficiency at other international competitions. The winners will be awarded Golden, Silver and Bronze Medals and each category winner gets the title and trophy “Champion of the World Choir Games 2018”.

World Choir Games - The Open Competition

This competition is open for every choir. It is designed for choirs of any level of proficiency and explicitly those without any or only little competition experience. The participants get to know their artistic level via the evaluation of the jury and are awarded a Golden, Silver or Bronze Diploma.
